IBM Power Systems and FlashSystem

Your next IBM Power and storage upgrade

Compare Power 11 configurations and FlashSystem storage for your IBM i, AIX, and Linux workloads. We help match processor features, licensing, and migration requirements to your existing environment.

Compare IBM Power 11 configurations

The S1112 is the compact IBM i option. The S1122 and S1124 add memory and expansion capacity, while the L models have different IBM i restrictions. The E1150 is AIX/Linux only; the E1180 also supports enterprise IBM i workloads.

Power 11 chassis, physical cores, memory, and IBM i configuration differences

E11509043-MRU 4U enterprise 16 to 120 256 GB to 16 TB Not supported; AIX and Linux
E11809080-HEU Full-rack enterprise 40 to 96; EDQD 128 requires confirmation 1 TB to 16 TB Supported alongside AIX and Linux

Physical cores are not the cores available to every IBM i partition. Memory ranges are system capabilities unless an IBM i limit is stated; the quote identifies installed memory and processor activations.

The E1180 EDQD listing requires core-count confirmation. Its 128-core feature is not paired with the 120-core benchmark.

IBM FlashSystem 5600, 7600, and 9600

Compare storage around usable capacity, transaction load, and recovery requirements. IBM i attachment also depends on the operating-system level and proposed adapter and SAN configuration.

Configure the upgrade around your IBM Power environment

We will review processor and software configuration alongside the installation and migration requirements. Include these details with your request:

  • Current machine type, model, and serial number.
  • IBM i, AIX, Linux, and VIOS releases with the required partition capacity.
  • Usable storage, growth requirements, and recovery targets.
  • Existing adapters and HMC, plus the planned migration window.
